Design and operation of process development facility

A client wanted to investigate the potential of a
new chemical conversion process. Kinetic modeling of the process indicted that potential yields in excess
of 30% were possible – although previous efforts had only achieved 20% yields.

SAS engineers proposed a novel reactor to achieve the conditions and were awarded the contract to design, fabricate and operate a “bench scale” process facility.

Data collected from the facility demonstrated that the kinetic models were too optimistic and that previous results in the region of 20% accurately represented maximum yields.

Consequently, SAS engineers were able to achieve “state of the art” results with the reactor and process operations.
